Social skills is a very import piece of communication. Social skills can often be worked on in the therapy room, but can be difficult to carryover at home. Attached is an article on how to work on social skills at home with your child and make it fun!
Helping your child develop their social skills can make a lasting positive impact on their life. People with good social skills often know what to say when, how to behave in a variety of situations, and how to make good choices.
Some fun social skill activities that can be implemented into an everyday routine include:
- Turn taking when telling stories
- Turn taking with your child when completing a task
- Play there favorite board games and practice taking turns or asking appropriate questions to one another, allowing wait time to have the partner respond.
- Practice decision making scenarios and strategies while at home, shopping, etc.
- Create scenarios with your child in which manners and courtesy should be used and have your child practice being courteous and polite.
