Orthographic mapping
March 15, 2021
March 15th- Learning to read can be very challenging for some children. Learning different ways to teach your children to read is crucial to find the best fit for your child. One example would be orthographic mapping. Orthographic mapping is when students use the oral language processing part of their brain to connect the sounds of words they already know (the phonemes) to the letters in a word (the spellings). By doing this, it allows them to then remember the connected sounds and letters of words and instantly recognize them (sight words).
