The Importance of Early Intervention
Are you concerned about your child’s overall development? Do they seem to be reaching speech, language, and/or motor skills milestones at a later rate than other children? If so, then your child may benefit from early intervention. Early intervention is composed of a set of services that are given to support children with developmental delays or disabilities from the ages of birth to 3 . The professionals who administer these services include Speech Language Pathologists, Audiologists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and more. The benefits of Early Intervention for children include, improvements in academic readiness, enhanced social and emotional skills, and the development of functional communication. Although Early Intervention is only provided in a child’s life up to age 3, it can provide lasting quality of life improvements throughout childhood and adolescent age.
