What is Dysarthria
Dysarthria is a speech disorder caused by muscular weakness. In order to speak we use many different muscles including but not limited to our lips, tongue and throat. Patients with Dysarthria have muscular weakness leading to slurred muffled sounding speech. Patients with Dysarthria have an inability to effectively move their muscles in order to produce precise clear speech.
Dysarthria can be caused by a stroke or an accident or a Traumatic Brian injury. Both adults and children can develop Dysarthria.
